Free Online Masterclass For Retail Owners

Before they walk in:

What your store looks like to a customer who has never shopped with you, and what to fix before Christmas and the end of year sales.

Free · 45-minutes · Online · Tuesday 6 October, 4:00pm (AEDT) · Retail owners and managers
Save My Spot

Most people decide about your store before they reach the door. They search, check your hours, look at your website, read your reviews and work out whether it’s worth the trip. If something doesn’t add up, they don’t ask, they go somewhere else. None of it happens in front of you, and between now and the January sales, more people will be doing it for the first time than at any other point in the year.

Register and you’ll walk away with:
· A clear read on what a first-time shopper finds when they look your store up
· The handful of things worth fixing before the busy season, and the ones that matter less than people think
· A way to check your own store the same way, any time

We’ll look at two stores, side by side. One that’s got this right, so you can see what you’re aiming at, and one with room to improve, anonymised. We’ll cover the search, the listing, the website, the reviews and the shopfront, exactly as a customer finds them.

A few honest questions:

My website and Google listing are already sorted. Is there anything in this for me?
Probably more than you’d expect. Complete isn’t the same as clear. A website can look great on a laptop and be hard work on a phone. Photos can show a shopfront that no longer looks like yours. And “Shop 42” means nothing to someone trying to find you in a shopping centre.

Is this just about Google?
No. It’s everything someone sees before they get to your door, online and on the street: what they find, whether it all matches, and whether your store looks open for business. Google is simply where a lot of it starts.

Do I need to prepare anything?
No. Just have your website and Google listing open in another tab while you watch. Almost everything that comes up will apply to your store too, and being able to check as we go is the difference between an interesting 45 minutes and a useful one.

Who runs it?
Ed Shute, founder of Business Life Support. Twenty years across hospitality, travel and professional services, and a business built on one idea: if you’re going to lose a customer, that should be a decision somebody made, not an accident nobody noticed. More about Business Life Support
